Make It Heaven Newsletter: Make It Heaven in the New Year

Vol. One – January 2003

The new year is an auspicious time to:

  • take stock of what is and is not working in your life
  • examine limitations so you can make better choices
  • grow in awareness of the collaboration with your divinity.

IN THIS ISSUE

THE BLUEPRINT

You have to think anyway, so why not think big?
- Donald Trump

First step: Making it Heaven in 2003 begins with glimpsing beyond how you have defined yourself, your relationships, abundance, career, creativity, health, etc and creating a blueprint so that God (spirit, Goddess, divine nature) will know your intentions and your hearts desire.

Take a few minutes over the next week – schedule it right now in your daytimer or PDA

  • clear your desk,
  • turn off the phone,
  • light a candle,
  • have sheets of paper or colored markers available,
  • close your eyes,
  • take in a deep breath,
  • and allow that great part of you to begin showing you, like gazing at a large movie screen, YOU living your heaven this year.

Be aware of how you feel as you ‘watch’ each area of your life align with the greater part of you. Allow the qualities of your heaven to awaken within you – peace, fulfillment, grace, loving, ease, joy, creativity, energy, focus, willingness, warmth, caring, sharing, relaxation, compassion, health, radiance.

Take a nice deep breath and breathe in your heaven.

Second step: Create your blueprint writing your heaven down using words, creating symbols, colors or pictures in the form of intention statements.

Examples:

Financial prosperity

I am creating financial health and well-being with grace and ease.

Physical health

My body is strong, flexible and well toned. I radiate health, energy, and life force.

Relationships with Others

My relationships are fun, interesting and mutually supportive. I am authentic in my communications as I trust myself.

Maybe your heaven is a general intention. At the top of my heaven this year I wrote: Have more fun!

Third step: Put your Heaven in a place where you can refer to it. Read it, visualize it, breathe it in OFTEN over the next 3 months.

Each time, give it to your divinity saying, "This or something better for the highest good of all concerned."

CONGRATULATIONS! You are on your way to creating Heaven in 2003!

TIP OF THE MONTH

If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.
- Thomas Edison

Choosing to wake up in areas where you have slumbered can be challenging at first. Awareness is often the key to unlocking your energy and focus when it comes to making new choices and changing old patterns.

The following questions are designed to be asked often over the next few weeks.

Suggestion: Keep a notepad handy as your responses may surprise you as you ask these questions repeatedly.

  1. What is present when I am at my best?
  2. Where do I not allow myself to show up fully in the world?
  3. How and where do I allow assumptions and expectations to create illusion and therefore disappointment?

Ask yourself everyday for the next week where you could wake up today!

THE ART OF OBSERVATION

For every obstacle there is a solution-over, under, around or through.
– Dan Zadra

Now that you have identified a few areas where your choices have been automatic or reactionary, let’s look at what you can do to have more awareness about what is not working.

Your heavenly blueprint may contain qualities such as peace, ease, authenticity, health and others – but today, in place of these attributes, you are plagued with old addictive emotional patterns, overwhelmed by past mistakes, blame and shame, or stuck in fear.

Observation is the art of neutrally watching a feeling, a thought, or a response from yourself or another without assigning meaning. Anytime I am faced with a challenging situation where my emotions are reactionary and the voices in my head are spewing negativity, I use observation to untangle the mess. This allows me to step back a bit, take a deep breath, unhook myself from the negativity, and ask myself:

What are my thoughts saying?

What triggered that emotional response?

How am I being with myself right now in the midst of this upset?

Suggestion: Pick one area where you are not conscious in your choices and begin observing yourself. Don’t judge thoughts or feelings or assign meaning (example: If I feel or think ____, that means ____.); this will give you information about YOURSELF which will lead to:

  • A different view of the situation
  • Time to pause and consider what else might be going on underneath that could trigger this response
  • A chance to not take life so personally
  • Awareness of other choices

Some dilemmas will simply drop away through observation; the charge will be gone. Others will require more attention and tools. Keep track of which is true for you.

In the following months we will explore more tools to use when challenges require more than observation. For now, pat yourself on the back for practicing a self-mastery tool!

MAKING A DATE WITH YOUR DIVINITY

Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future, but right now.
– Eileen Caddy

The spiritual nature of who we are is the source and inspiration for our heaven. Our "heaven" already resides within us, and as we make conscious choices, shift our seeing glimpsing the greater reality, it is our divinity that will reveal our portable paradise. Like the morning light illuminating this world gradually each day, we will see more clearly as our eyes adjust to the truth.

Make a date with your divinity today – yes, once again schedule time in your daytimer of PDA. How often you hold counsel is up to you, as is how you would like to engage the divine.

Some popular scenarios could be:

  1. Taking a solitary walk in nature
  2. Journaling
  3. Artistic expression
  4. Meditation
  5. Spiritual exercises
  6. Dance or movement of some kind
  7. Prayer/contemplation
  8. Walking a labyrinth

During your time with your holiness you may want to divide the conversation into talking, (praying etc) and listening (silence). God responds to us through the channels that are most receptive – some people sense a presence, others "hear", while others see images/pictures or get a sensation of warmth in the body. Sometimes, no recognizable response or indication is evident.

Be patient.

Keep invoking, opening, and engaging the heart.

Take the first few weeks of this new year to explore what mode/s of conversation works for you. When you find the sacred meeting ground, be consistent. Keep the commitment with yourself.
