From Creator to Cocreator – Making the Shift by Rebecca Skeele, Author, Counselor, Teacher

Shift of Focus and Attention

Imagine for a moment…

What if the next message you need to hear for your growth and advancement can no longer be delivered by another?

What if your living scripture is written in your heart moment to moment?

Shifting your focus from wanting the message to come from outside to attuning to the messenger inside promotes the connection to your good inner guide.

This wise orator sees clearly and knows the "bigger picture". It has been called a master teacher or guide, an angelic presence or the higher self, prana (Sanskrit for "the breath of life"), the divine spark or the still, small voice of God.

What is your relationship with this wisdom inside? See yourself as the student: the part of you that questions in times of confusion, cries out in moments of fear, and seeks directions when life seems overwhelming.

Establishing open channels of communication between Guide/student awaken what is already present inside you – the answers to the problems of your life! And what lies beyond that … the template for your personal heaven.

How do you know when you are in touch with this master intelligence? Look for something new inside of you that is coming forward. See if your attitude is more accepting and less reactive. Pay attention to your energy – is it self-renewing?

Does your life have a freshness and vibrancy?

Awareness Practice:

Keep a daily journal in which you ask yourself:

  • What was my growth today? (look for learnings, shifts of attitude, experiences that are feedback for course correction)
  • How did I expand? (ask yourself to see the blessings in a situation; see if you can open your heart where you want to shut down and accept)
  • What is my revelation? (look for the newness, the freshness in yourself; watch for energy drains or gains)

Tip of the Month: Unmasking Fear

"Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there."
- Rumi

When you and I are in the grip of any fear considered inappropriate, our impulse is to save face by masking it.

The masks of fear come in a variety of shapes. Those most commonly used are anger, control, and obsessive behavior. While cover-ups may hide a fear from the outside world, they cannot diminish the fear or alleviate the judgments that are internalized. When self-condemnation becomes so painful that you do not feel safe enough inside to face your fears, you deny their existence.

Awareness Practice:

Ask yourself these questions ...

  • Do I have quick fuse that ignites in anger over life’s trivialities?
(bring your awareness to what is going on beneath your irritation in traffic, impatience standing in lines, overwhelm at the day’s news headlines)
  • Do I attempt to control outer events, unsightly behavior, the flow of conversation, or another’s actions?
(look for a temporary feeling of power or less anxiety when things go ‘your way’; watch how safe/unsafe, comfortable/uncomfortable you feel when events/people seem out of control)
  • Have I noticed any obsessive behavior patterns?
(overeating, overdrinking, overspending, or any excessive preoccupations can numb your awareness to the voice of fear)

Shift of Loyalty

"Each time we set an intention of self-loyalty another piece of our true self becomes illuminated from within and reflected out into the world."
– Rebecca Skeele

The hidden self that comes into view on the self-mastery playing field needs our allegiance. Sustained by a steady stream of devotion, it furnishes the mind with new insights, and the heart with fresh vigor. The inner domain, now cleared of fear, is receptive to your truth. Sharing this truth with others, you can reap the reward of open, honest communication. Suddenly connection is everywhere because you are connected inside to what sustains, nurtures and regenerates YOU anew every day.

Pledging loyalty to the self can be a big shift in your life. For starters, you may not recognize yourself. Like the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, you are no longer anything like who you thought you were, making it difficult to know quite where to place your loyalty. Familiar voices can weaken your resolve. Inner voices may warn you that you have wandered from the comfortable, known, safe "old"a self. Outer voices may chide you for changing too much or threaten to abandon you.

It can be tempting to succumb. Maybe you are used to overriding your truth for the sake of others – or an unmet need in you might begin drawing your allegiance away from the new you. Awakefulness is necessary now, more than ever to be on the lookout for the old games of: guilt, pleasing, approval-seeking, wanting to belong, old conditioned patterns of "not enough", fear of being alone, misidentification with staying small. And the ego, used to running the show, can get irritable with all this deconstruction.

See all of these challenges as angels on the sidelines. These cheerleading guardians are commissioned to usher us through what is familiar – but limiting into the inner realms that are unfamiliar, but expansive. These angels know who we are. They see who we can become. And they want the very best for us.

Awareness Practice:

Use the following Self-Mastery Progress Report to check in daily with the growing devotion to the truth of yourself.

Am I ready to:

  • Take responsibility for my life and forgive and bless everything in the past?
  • Release outgrown beliefs of safety and security?
  • Tell myself the microscopic truth when I am afraid?
  • Extend compassion to myself and others?
  • Say "yes" to discovering the source of my abundance?
  • Choose loving at every opportunity?

Shift of Spiritual Heritage

It is our divine birthright to become cocreators with divinity. Shifting and claiming that birthright is a gradual unfolding that takes place as you let go of your "old" allegiances, stories, beliefs, and conditioning. The prophets, sages, teachers, and masters throughout time have given us keys, clues, signposts, and prayers for comfort and guidance so you can experience more and more each day the greater blessings of your life.

This Aramaic translation of the Lord’s prayer is an ancient template for cocreation. I offer it here for your earnest contemplation and consideration.

O Birther! Father-Mother of the Cosmos

You create all that moves

In light.

Focus your light within us – make it useful;

As the rays of a beacon show the way.

Let your counsel rule our lives,

Clearing our intention

For cocreation.

As we find your love in ours,

Let heaven and nature from a new creation.

Grant what we need each day in bread and insight;

Subsistence for the call of growing life.

Loose the cords of mistakes binding us,

As we release the strands we hold of

Other’s guilt.

Don’t let surface things delude us,

But free us from what holds us back

From our true purpose.

From you is born all ruling will,

The power and life to do, the song that beautifies all –

From age to age –

May they be the ground from which all my actions grow;

Sealed in trust and faith.
